Access Statement for Ammonite Lodge Guest House
Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home-based 7 bedroom bed and breakfast Guest House. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-Arrival
There are bus stops along the High Street, within 50 -100ms of the Guest House and there are frequent bus services.
The main train station (Crewkerne) is 15 minutes away by car. Axminster train station is 20 minutes away by car.
There is a local taxi service that has accessible taxis; if required, we can make a booking for you.
Brochures and menus can be provided in large print or read out if required.
We have a basic website.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
On arrival at the property there is temporary parking usually available outside the Guest House.
There is additional parking through the adjacent alleyway, however this is narrow and may require guidance. Please ask at reception for help. No marked parking bays, but there is sufficient room for cars.
Access to the Guest House from the car park is along the level alleyway which is level and flat.
We can assist guests with luggage and with parking.
The town centre is a few minutes walk from the Guest House.
Main Entrance & Reception
The front door has one step 1.5cm high.
The front door is sometimes locked and we do have a bell which can be reached from any height.
The door is 120cm wide.
On entry into our home there is a hallway 1.17metres by 8 metres.
There is carpeted flooring throughout the ground floor.
Public Areas - General (Internal)
Our corridors to the guest sitting room and breakfast room are 117cm wide.
Corridors have a good colour contrast and are well lit.
The flooring on all corridors on the ground floor are carpeted.
The covering on stairs and upstairs corridors is short pile carpet.
Dog water bowl and food bowl (and food if requested in advance) are available on request.
The breakfast room and one bedroom are on the ground floor.
There are 8 stairs to a landing followed by a further 3 stairs to the first floor landing and bedrooms.
The stairs are 17cm high, 28cm deep, 84cm wide.
Public Areas - WC
Bedrooms are en suite (2 have private bathrooms) and there is a public WC available in the courtyard at the back of the building.
Breakfast Room
Breakfast is served in the breakfast room on the ground floor. There is a step down into the room which is 15cm high.
Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
Tables have underspace of 67cm high by 135cm wide. There are chairs which can be moved to accommodate.
Menus are available and can be read out.
We do not play background music in any area of the B&B.

Bedrooms
There are 7 bedrooms, one on the ground floor and six on the first floor.
Ground floor bedroom (single room)
Access is from the first floor landing along a corridor and 3 steps up, 2 down, followed by 10 down. Access may also be made by special arrangement via the fire door exit which leads out into the garden. There is a further step up into the room which is 8cm high.
The stairs are 17cm high, 28cm deep and 84cm wide.
Door widths (main and bathroom) are minimum 78cm wide.
Can either be a double bedded room (rooms 1, 3, and 4) or a twin bedded room (room 2 and 5).
A single room (room 6) is found on the first floor along the corridor, up 3 steps, down 2, down another 3 and up 4. This room has a separate private bathroom which is accessed back along the corridor, down 4 steps, and up 3. All steps are approximately 16cm high.
Furniture and beds are moveable on request.
Beds are 62cm high.
Television with remote control.
Divan beds are provided.
There is an en suite bath in room 4 and en suite showers in rooms 1, 2, 5 and 7.
Fitted short pile carpet on all the floors and lino in the bathrooms.
Door widths (main and bathroom) are approximately 70cm wide.
Grounds and Gardens
We have a small enclosed garden (flower border and lawn) for residents which is available to sit in (bench available) or to let dogs out if required. -
There is a local park (Snowden Park) 300 metres walk from the B&B where dogs (and owners!) can get more exercise.
Additional Information
Assistance dogs are welcomed.
Mobile phone reception is generally good.
We are able to use the front and back doors in the need of evacuation, the fire alarm rings continuously if evacuation is needed. If you require more assistance for evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely e.g. hearing impairment.
We are happy to take delivery of hired equipment.
We are a no smoking building (smoking is allowed in the small garden which has level entry and ashtrays are provided).

Hours of operation: Closed 24, 25 and 26 December. Hours flexible to business, the B&B is our home, so occupied 24 hours. Mainline telephone answered 8am-10pm.
